Welcome
JT Acupuncture and Chinese medicine is located in the wheatbelt of Western Australia, and services regional areas via Bindoon Family Chiropractic, Coastal Family Wellness in Two Rocks, Moora Wellness Centre, and Seven Drops of Wellness in Jurien Bay.
At JT Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, I am dedicated to helping clients discover the underlying causes of health issues, as well as treating external symptom manifestation, by employing a holistic approach to health care with the use of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). This modality of medicine is based on the foundation that health is found through the balance of the bodily systems and uses therapeutic techniques that can benefit a range of symptoms and disorders.
As the sole practitioner of JT Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, I take pride in providing a high standard of professional health care to clients who are looking for a complementary health care option to use or add to their existing medical treatment and management.
Hi, I'm Jodie,

mother, grandmother, life and business partner, and registered Acupuncturist and Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner. I have my Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture), I am an advocate for alternative medicine, and the woman behind JT Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.
I have lived in the wheatbelt, on the family farm, for approximately twenty-five years. Living and working in rural Western Australia has given me a keen understanding as to the complexities of health care management, and the severely limited resources available in regional areas.
My mission is to provide people with a quality alternative medicine practice, that is supported by empirical scientific evidence, is empathetic, relaxing, and beneficial to health care management, and that can be used as a stand-alone therapy or in conjunction with western medicine practices.
As a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, I believe that balance can be achieved through treating the body, mind and spirit as an integrated whole.
What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a holistic approach to healing that has been used for thousands of years. It is based on the idea that the body is a complex system of interconnected parts, and that health is achieved by balancing these parts and restoring harmony to the body. TCM takes a more comprehensive approach to health and wellness.
TCM includes a variety of practices, such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, tui na massage, cupping gua sha, and dietary and exercise therapy. These practices are designed to promote the body's natural healing processes and restore balance to the body. In TCM, the emphasis is on treating the root cause of an illness rather than just the symptoms. This means that TCM practitioners take a more personalized approach to treatment, taking into account each individual's unique needs and circumstances.
One of the key differences between TCM and Western medicine is the approach to diagnosis. In TCM, practitioners use a combination of observation, questioning, and pulse and tongue diagnosis to determine the root cause of an illness. This allows for a more personalized and targeted treatment plan. Another difference is the emphasis on prevention in TCM. Practitioners aim to identify imbalances in the body before they manifest as illness and work with patients to make lifestyle changes that promote overall health and well-being.

Traditional Acupuncture
Acupuncture is based in the theory that the body has a constant flow of energy that circulates through energy pathways called meridians or channels which correspond to the major organs of the body. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, our life force or qi, constantly circulates through these meridians to maintain optimal health and wellbeing and to prevent disease. Dysfunction in the form of pain or illness occur when the flow of qi is blocked or restricted.
Acupuncture is the insertion of thin, single use, needles into the skin at particular acupoints on the body. These needles stimulate the nervous system, and support the natural healing functions of the body, by boosting circulation and reducing inflammation, which in turn can help improve the health and function of bodily processes, muscles, and organs.

Electroacupuncture
As the name implies, electroacupuncture utilises a mild electrical current to imitate needle manipulation. When applied to acupuncture needles this stimulates the nervous system and can aid in the increased release of neurotransmitters to help relieve pain and the symptoms associated with various health issues, including but not limited to, stroke, depression, anxiety, and insomnia.
Electroacupuncture is not suited to those clients that have a pacemaker. Please be sure to let your practitioner know if this applies to you.

Auricular Acupuncture and Acupressure
Auricular acupuncture involves stimulating specific points on the ear to treat various physical and emotional conditions.
This practice is based on the concept of the ear as a microsystem of the whole body, where each point on the ear corresponds to a specific organ or body part.
Auricular acupuncture can be used as a standalone treatment or in combination with other forms of acupuncture or traditional medicine.
Auricular acupuncture involves the insertion of fine needles into specific points on the ear, which are then stimulated manually or with electrical current. Other techniques include acupressure, laser therapy, and ear seeds, which are small beads or magnets placed on the ear. Ear seeds can provide prolonged relief and benefits after treatment by continued stimulation of the ear points.
Auricular acupuncture and acupressure can assist with various health conditions including:
-
Chronic pain management, particularly the lower back.
-
Addiction and addiction recovery
-
Stress and anxiety reduction
-
Depression
-
Digestive disorders
-
Weight loss
-
Dysmenorrhea
-
Allergies
-
Migraine
-
Insomnia

Cupping Therapy
Fire cupping is an ancient practice that involves placing cups on the skin and creating a vacuum by heating the air inside them. The cups are left in place for 5-10 minutes, which creates suction and promotes blood flow to the area.
This can help relieve pain and inflammation, muscle tension, stress and anxiety, as well as improve circulation and promote relaxation. Where there is significant stagnation present, cupping marks may be visible after treatment. These marks will be red or purple in colour and will fade within a few days.
Research has shown that fire cupping may be effective in treating certain medical conditions, such as chronic neck and back pain, migraines, respiratory issues, and weight loss. In fact, one study found that fire cupping was more effective than conventional treatments for lower back pain.

Gua Sha
Gua Sha is an ancient Chinese healing technique that involves scraping the skin with a smooth-edged tool to promote healing and improve circulation. The technique is used to treat a variety of conditions, including muscle pain, tension, and inflammation.
Gua Sha channel scrubbing has been used for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine to promote healing and wellness. One of the primary benefits of Gua Sha is improved circulation. By using a scraping tool to stimulate the skin, blood flow is increased, which can help to reduce inflammation and promote healing throughout the body. This is because the scraping action helps to break up adhesions and scar tissue in the muscles and connective tissues, which can lead to improved range of motion and reduced pain and stiffness.

Chinese Herbal Medicine
Chinese Herbal Medicine is an ancient practice that has been used for thousands of years in China and other parts of Asia. It involves using natural substances to treat various health conditions. Practitioners of this ancient tradition believe that the body, mind, and spirit are all interconnected, and that imbalances in one area can lead to health problems in others.
One example of how Chinese Herbal Medicine is used in practice is in the treatment of chronic pain. Unlike Western medicine, which often relies on pharmaceuticals to manage pain, Chinese Herbal Medicine takes a more holistic approach. By addressing the underlying imbalances in the body that contribute to pain, Chinese herbs can provide long-term relief without the risk of addiction or other side effects.
Another common use of Chinese Herbal Medicine is in the treatment of digestive issues. Many people suffer from conditions like irritable bowel syndrome or acid reflux, which can be difficult to manage with conventional treatments. Chinese herbs offer a natural and effective alternative, helping to soothe inflammation, improve digestion, and restore balance to the gut microbiome.

Chinese Tui Na Massage
Tui Na Massage is a form of Chinese manipulative therapy that is based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and involves the use of hand techniques to massage the soft tissue of the body. Unlike other forms of massage, Tui Na Massage focuses on specific pressure points and meridians in the body to promote healing and balance.
The benefits of Tui Na Massage are numerous. Not only does it help to alleviate physical pain and tension, it can also improve circulation, boost the immune system, and reduce stress and anxiety, as well as enhance sleep quality. Tui Na Massage can be used to treat a variety of conditions, including back pain, musculoskeletal disorders, headaches, digestive issues, and stress related illnesses.

Moxibustion
Moxibustion is an ancient Traditional Chinese Medicine healing technique that originated in China over 2,500 years ago. It involves burning dried mugwort, also known as moxa, on or near the skin at specific acupuncture points to stimulate circulation and promote healing. It was believed to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions, from digestive disorders to menstrual cramps. Today, moxibustion is still widely used in traditional Chinese medicine and is gaining popularity in the West as a natural form of healing and wellness.
The heat generated by moxibustion penetrates deep into the skin and muscles, increasing blood flow and releasing tension. It also activates the immune system, helping to fight off infections and illnesses. In addition, moxibustion can help to regulate hormones, improving overall health and well-being.
